Why are my Beam and Triplet commands not available?

You must select an eligible sequence of notes for the commands to become active. For example to beam notes, you must have at least two flagged (ex: eighth) notes selected (highlighted). Once selected, the beam icon will become available as well as the ability to use the quick key Ctrl+B. Clicking the beam icon will beam the selected notes.

For triplets, the selection must be able to conform to a valid triplet grouping before the tool can be used.

A triplet is 3 notes played in the time of 2 notes of equal value. It would depend on the time signature as to what combination of notes make a triplet. You could check in NoteWorthy Composer by setting up different time signatures and notes and selecting different sets of notes. If the select group could be a triplet, the triplet icon will come on.
