Ending Bar Justification |

When printing NWC music files, there are at least three ways to format the final system on the last page, that is, the last line to be printed. The default algorithm prints until the System Close Bar Line, then leaves the rest of the line blank. The next option is to check Extend Last System under Page Setup/Options; this extends the staff to the right-hand margin, thus lining up with previous staves on the page, but the notes and rests and other goodies remain where they were before. The most satisfying visual effect IMHO can be achieved by adding an extra Section Close (Bar Line/Section Close) at the very end of the top staff to be printed, being sure to check the Force System Break option. NWC then treats the final system like any other line in the printout, justifying the necessary characters throughout the entire line. As long as Force System Break was checked and no characters were entered after the special Section Close, the printing algorithm is finished. If there is white space remaining on the page, nothing else is printed; if the page is full, there is no second blank sheet. If the (original) final system was quite short, then the new one will be quite stretched out; it is easy to work backwards line by line to change the number of measures in preceding lines (using Force System Break) and thus "borrow" an extra measure or two for the final system.
