Bar Line Check While Notating

When notating a MIDI input or just transcribing a complex piece of music from sheet music, insert a dummy staff. Use Copy repeatedly to fill the dummy staff with rests as dictated by the time signature: whole rests for 4/4, half rests for 2/4, dotted half rests for 3/4, etc.

Now, if the bar lines of the real musical staffs line up with the bar lines of the dummy staff, you have correctly assigned note timings.

The dummy staff can be moved up and down as required so that it is directly under the staff being worked. When finished, simply delete the dummy staff.
