Combining Phrase Marks and Simple Slurs |
|
| User Tip #: 92 Offered By: Pete Pohlhammer Last Modified: N/A |
The slur tool may be used to create phrase marks in NoteWorthy Composer by highlighting the range of notes desired and clicking the 'slur' tool. However, a simple 2, 3, or 4 note slur indicator within the desired phrase is not possible under normal use conditions. To over come this problem the following may be done.
- Insert a new staff below the staff required.
- Copy the notation from the required staff (the entire staff must be copied exactly) and paste it to the new staff creating an exact duplicate.
- In the original staff highlight the notes required for the simple 2, 3, or 4 (etc.) note slurs and create the slur mark with the slur tool.
- In the newly created duplicate staff highlight the range of notes required for the entire phrase and click the 'slur' tool to create a 'phrase' mark (in the notation properties box you choose to have this mark placed above or below the phrase for the best visual appearance).
- Go to the original staff and open the staff properties dialogue box. In this box go to the VISUAL tab and select the "layer with next staff" check box and click OK.
The combined staves will now show the simple slurs and phrase marks together.
