I don't care about how it sounds; the purpose of this file is to create a score to read for rehearsal- the piece of music in question is out of print. I've got everything entered in except the snare drum part. All I need is a way to put 3 slashes over notes that have rolls. Any suggestions?

I did a search, but the only related questions were about how to make a drumroll sound.

The whole reason I'm making this score is as a present for my co-operating teacher (student teaching) because he hasn't had the score in years. I need to have it done by tomorrow night, so I'm checking as many sources as possible in addition to experimenting on my own.

You will need to download Boxmarks 2 if you don't have it already on your computer.

To download Boxmarks 2, go to the Scriptorium here: http://www.vpmag.com/nwc/helpful.html#Fonts

Download and install the font, then open NWC 2.

While in NWC 2, go to Page Setup and click on the Fonts tab. Usually I double-click "User 1" and set Boxmarks 2 as the font, with a font size of 16 (or whatever size works for your needs). Click ok after setting up the font the way you want it to look. Click on the staff that you want to put slashes into and put the flashing cursor where you want the slashes to go, and press 'X'. In the 'Display Font' drop-down box, select 'User 1- Boxmarks'. In the 'Expression' box, type the letter 'o', which will end up being three slashes going diagonally upwards to the right, or the letter 'p', which will end up being three slashes going diagonally downwards to the right. Before pressing enter, click on the Expression Placement tab. Set Jusification to Center, and Alignment/Placement to At Next Note/Bar, and then press enter.

HTH!

G'day Lindsay,
best suggestion I have is to add a text entry:

Install the Boxmark2 font from the scripto ( http://www.vpmag.com/nwc/ftp/helpful/boxmark2.zip ) if you don't already have it and then create a text entry centred on the note (Justification: Center, Alignment/Placement: At Next Note/Bar). The character I think you need is "o" although "p" might be the one - one slopes one way, the other slope the other... Both will give you 3 strokes.

Adjust vertical position to suit.

Well, here we are again, Mr. Pardy, posting close in time. :-)

I'm just glad I said the same thing as you. Otherwise, I'd have felt bad for giving bad advice. ;-)

Hi! Thank you for the suggestion- it worked! :)
I had been trying making a new character in the shape I wanted... NWC didn't like it very much- it put in a question mark. Oh well, the boxmarks worked perfectly.

Yay- I'll be able to finish my project tonight!!!
Thanks again :)
