I wish to connect a Roland ep.7 11 keyboard to my PC to run with Noteworthy Composer.
I have purchased a Midi cable from our local shop, but so far the PC does not appear to notice the keyboard.
I have read through the hints on this newsgroup but still no success.

Can anyone help please.

Thank you

Hi, Geoff,

Welcome. The most common problem is connecting the cables improperly. The OUT cable should go to the MIDI IN of the keyboard, and the IN cable to the MIDI OUT. The other end, of course, has to be connected to the sound card's midi/joystick port.

Another thing to check is that your MPU-401 driver is enabled in Control Panel --> Multimedia. (Assuming you're running Win9x).

Finally, some keyboards seem to be balky if "Local" is on. No logical reason for this, but I've had problems with my daughter's Roland D-50 if local was on.

HTH

Fred
