Is there a possibility to get *.mp3 or *.wav files to a MIDI file? And if so how?

This is one of the all-time great perennial questions.

Opinions differ. There are apparently programs that can handle simple .wav files (for example, those containing a melody played by a single solo instrument). The consensus opinion, though, is that it's not really possible to write a program to generate a MIDI file from an arbitrary .wav file.

For much more on this check out these threads: article #1236, article #1160, article #1003, article #995. I found these by searching the offline forum. I know there are some more recent postings too, but they're eluding me at present.

I didn't read all of the previous links ( article #995 is of interest)
but it seems that http://www.intelliscore.net/demo.html now contains the version 3 of their software.

Not good for your aural training, but such a time gain.

HTH, Dominique
