Midi recording

I note that when I input via a midi keyboard onto a new stave the note durations are all the same as the selected note length, but if I input onto a stave which already has a track existing then the note durations are correct relative to the existing track.
Is it not possible to set a time signature and tempo for a new stave and then record at a duration relative to the midi click.
Also I find of course that my input tends to be full of demi semi quavers (I'm not much of a player) but I've seen midi programs that will (quantise?) adjust to a more playable structure. Is this possible in Noteworthy?

I've had the same thing happen with the 32nd notes, so it appears that either I have to play much more precisely, or enter the notes in step time, and that has become much better for me, even though I have to go back and adjust rhythms. I find it's much easier to adjust step-time than to deal with all those hemi-semi-demis or whatever they end up being. I think I remember that in real time it's possible to set the tempo on the template for a slower tempo and that can be helpful. Actually, one can get a pretty good speed going in step time, even including hitting the tab key for bar lines, so it still goes pretty fast. Good luck!
